Cheryl Johnson is on a mission to have folks adopt a Box Lunch Lifestyle. It’s an easy approach that makes lunch healthy, happier, and kind of exciting.
I love the idea of focusing on just one meal – lunch. 5 days a week while you’re at work and how it can change your life.
Seriously it can change your life and it’s a simple way that’s fun to embrace.
I was lucky enough to meet Cheryl through Seth Godin’s altMBA alumni group. I was sold on her simple Box Lunch Lifestyle of changing up lunch so it’s healthy all the way around. She shared the concept with us on a Teach-and-Learn.
Now I don’t want to give you all the details. But let’s look at an example of a version of this from decades ago.
Colleen McCullough worked at Yale University back in the 1970’s. During lunch, she wrote. Her co-workers thought she was a bit odd. Having worked at Yale in the 1980’s let’s be honest it’s a place where we were all a bit odd.
What did Colleen write?
She wrote The Thornbirds an amazing success which has sold over 30 million copies world-wide. Additionally, it was also a TV mini-series that fascinated the country.
Lunch – that’s what can be done during lunch.
Cheryl shows us in simple, easy to do suggestions just how much that 30 minute break can make such an amazing improvement in our lives.

Cheryl’s most recent leap:
“I think this is one of the first public ways that I have started to talk to the world about what I believe in. When I think about the idea of Box Lunch Lifestyle and what the world would look like if we all brought our lunch to work – … we’d be having conversations about the things that we value.”
