Recently, there was a conversation on a forum I’m in about a woman who had just been offered a great job which she decided to accept. When she went in to tell her boss about leaving, he gave her the hard sell on staying.
He basically told her a “big secret”. They were going to be acquired. It was going to be great – an influx of money, new titles, stock options, pay, new technology all the things they really wanted to do but hadn’t had that kind of cash to do.
He gave her such a strong sell job that she was really confused. What’s the right call in a situation like this?
If you find yourself in this kind of scenario-where there is a merger or acquisition going on- I’ve got some great advice on this week’s podcast to help you do your own due diligence to protect and advance your career.
One thing I suggest is to give yourself time to think about it. To “play hooky” and take a brief respite from your daily routine to clear your head. You may end up seeing something that helps put everything in a different and helpful perspective.
Because of this, I’m really excited about inviting you to play Hooky with me in NYC on April 6 from 1-3 pm. It’s for women who have outgrown the “bro-fest” at work and want to explore what’s next.
Topics and common concerns we’ll cover:
- “Should I Stay or Go?” We’ll go through strategies to determine if you should stay in your current role, move on to a new job, or other options you may not have considered.
- “I think I have a side-hustle but I’m not sure.” (You will leave with a basic plan)
- How to totally change your view of your current job if staying is what’s best at this time. (Learn how to be a Pirate)
I’d like you to join me for this wonder-filled afternoon that you’ll remember for a long time.
