Hey it’s day 3 on our 50 Day Leap. Work personas suck because – well they take too much work. They waste your energy as you try to present a person you think other people want you to be.
NO – no work persona for you. Todays journaling action is going to help you break those unwritten rules on work personas and create – free the real you.
You are going to take your observations from yesterday, drop your work persona, and create the ideal version of how YOU want to be seen at work.
This is a journaling exercise and you are going to picture you at your best presenting to an awesome group of people. It is you in an ideal scenario – presenting your ideas to your kind of people.
Go for the moon on this one – it’s worth it. Describe in details what you are talking about – how you are presenting – have some real fun with this! Remember the whole point is to create your ideal version of you being YOU and it being great.
Now this doesn’t need to be a Ted Talk but it certainly could. Or it could be a conversation that you really really want to be able to have with ease.
I really want you to dig deep on this – get some coffee or a glass of wine some nice music and let you mind freely flow. Where do you ideally see yourself in 3 years being seen the way you want to be seen.
How do people feel after they spend time with you? How do you want them to feel?
I love this excersise because of you loosen up and picture your ideal presentation or conversation it opens a new world of possibilities. Be curious and describe everything with as much detail as you can.
There are no shoulds. No, I can’ts.This is all about the ideal.
Drop any work persona you might have. It’s not necessary. Bring you and your ideal version of you. The real version of you that might just be buried a bit but that you know it’s still there – it might be hidden but let it see the sunshine today.
I can’t wait to see YOU. There’s a great story from a friend of men and her question to Gary V.
